1.MEASUREMENT AND UNITS:Mass,time,fundamental physical quantities and derived physical quantities and their units,dimensions,limitation of experimental measurements;measurement, position, distance and displacement.
2.SCALAR AND VECTORS:Definition of scalar and vector quantities and examples, relative velocity, resolution of vectors into two perpendicular directions.
3. MOTION:Types of motion, Relative motion, causes of motion, types of force,linear motion, projectile, Newton’s law of motion, Motion in a circle,simple Harmonic Motion( S.H.M).
4. GRAVITATIONAL FIELD:Newton’s law of universal gravitation,gravitational potential, conservative and non conservative fields,acceleration due too gravity and its variation on earth’s surface, distinction between mass and weight, escape velocity and parking orbit with weightless.
5. EQUILIBRIUM OF FORCES:
Equilibrium of particles, principles of moment, conditions for equilibrium of rigid bodies under the action if parallel and non parallels forces, centre of gravity and stability.
6. WORK, ENERGY AND POWER:
Definition, forms of energy, conservation of energy ,qualitative treatment between forms of energy, interpretation of areas under the force distance curve;Energy and society;Dams and energy production; Nuclear energy; solar energy.
7. FRICTION:
Static and dynamic friction, coefficient of limiting friction and it’s determination, advantage and disadvantage of friction, reduction of friction, Stoke’s law,qualitative treatment of viscosity and terminal velocity.

Definition, types of machines; mechanical advantage, velocity ratio and efficiency of machines.
9. ELASTICITY:Elastic limit, yield point, breaking point, Hook’s law and Young’s modulus;spring balance; work done per unit volume in spring and elastic string
