Jeff Bezos Early Life
Jeff Bezos born Jeffrey Preston Jorgensen was born on born January 12, 1964 in Albuquerque, New Mexico in the United States of America to Jacklyn (née Gise) and Theodore Jørgensen. His father Theodore Jørgensen was a Danish American.
His parents later got divorced and his mom married a Cuban immigrant named Miguel Bezos in April 1968, it was then that Jeff Bezos’s name was changed from Jeffrey Preston Jorgensen to Jeffrey Preston Bezos, taking up his stepfather’s name. Jeff grew up in Houston, Texas and Miami, Florida. He moved to Houston, Texas when he was four years old.
Jeff Bezos Education
Jeff attended River Oaks Elementary School in Houston, Texas and when his family moved to Miami he attended Miami Palmetto High School where he graduated in 1982 He was his high school valedictorian, and he also won a Silver Knight Award and was also National Merit Scholar that same year.
He later went on to Princeton University where he graduated summa cum laude with a 4.2 GPA in 1986. He has a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree (B.S.E.) in electrical engineering and computer science from Princeton University.

Early Career
After graduating from college in 1986, Jeff began his career at Fitel, which was a Fintech telecommunications start-up. After that he later moved to the banking sector where he worked as product manager at Bankers Trust.
He left Bankers Trust in 1990 after spending two years there to join D. E. Shaw & Co, which was a newly formed hedge fund where he rose to post of Senior Vice President when he was 30 years old. He worked there for four years before leaving in 1994 to start Amazon
When was Amazon founded?
Amazon started in July 5, 1994 in a garage in Bellevue, Washington and it sold its first book a year later in July, 1995. In 2002, Jeff launched Amazon Web Services for weather data from weather websites and traffic.
In November, 2007, Amazon Kindle was launched. On February 2, 2021 Jeff Bezos stepped down as CEO of Amazon with Andy Jassy taking over as CEO.
